My husband and I are starting to think about transitioning from our ft careers to less stressful, leave it and forget it, PT/partially PT work now that we're FI. We're still fairly young, mid 40-50, home is paid off and thankfully we live in a low COLA area so we are only needing to cover living expenses and then keep up with our travel. One caveat is that one of us needs to qualify for benefits as we do need health insurance, I suffer from migraines. I'm wondering if anyone has suggestions or been in the same boat and has uncovered great PT or near PT work/companies that offer benefits and have been good to work for. We'd love to add them to our list as we start this next phase!

Hi etravels16@etravels16 ,

I am currently in the phase of working a PT job, which has relieved a ton of stress. I have written a forum post, the details about pt job is in the comments.

I'm not sure if this is applicable in your country, but my wife and I have a small company (revenue around $1k/mo.), which pays for our (and the kids) private health insurance and pension contribution.

I'm no stranger to health struggles, but getting a PT job has made all the difference for me.

I wish you all the best on your journey.

One thing to consider is focusing on part-time roles that offer predictable hours and benefits, then comparing the eligibility requirements carefully since they can vary by employer. Retail, education, healthcare support, and local government jobs are often worth checking. Planning gives you time to find an option that fits both your budget and health insurance needs.

There was a great article in the newsletter a while back. If you go to "Articles" in the app and search for "barista" (as what you are talking about is often referred to as "barista FI") you'll find a list of 14 companies that offer health benefits part-time employees.
