So myself (age 48) and wife (age 42) are looking ahead about 5 years when we hope to "permanently" (is anything permanent?) settle down and retire. We're dreaming of our idea location to settle down and wonder if such a place exists?
We're essentially wondering if a community exists out there whereby:
- Residents own their home.
- Residents of the community HAVE ACCESS TO SOME KIND OF COMMUNITY MEAL PLAN.
- Residents of the community get "renter" type benefits (they don't have to maintain their lawns, gardening and they don't have to fix any home features that break).
Essentially, we're looking to OWN a residence in a community that offers some kind of meal plan (think college campus where we can just get our food from some "community center" where all members of the community go to grub). And to top it all off we want EVEN MORE of our time back by not having to worry about maintaining our property (outdoors or indoors).
BONUS POINTS if such a community…..
- Is in a state with no income taxes (I plan to do Roth Conversions for about 6 years in early retirement)
- Has a community rec center (weight room, pool, athletic courts, etc.)
- Is in an area with great biking and hiking paths / trails
