Econome 2027

Anybody heading to Cincy for Econome 2027? I lucked out and scored a ticket.

I've never been to an FI conference, although I've been a part of the community for several years (whatever that means).

What do I need to do in preparation? I assume people have some general questions, or maybe have a networth/fi tracker that they take.

I'm trying to figure out what I want to get out of this. Networking/making connections with like-minded folk is at the top. I feel like I'm on an island of sorts as of now in regards to income/ability to save.

I know that I want to delve into tax savings and possibly STR, as wife and I have been eyeing this since covid.

Anybody else going to be able to make it? I know it is awhile away, there is a waitlist if anybody wants to jump on it.

I am attending!! I am traveling with my husband and son but he is not too heavy into this and is just supporting me along the way so I will be alone at these events. It will be my first time as well! I've followed for some time and unsure what to get from it as well but I hope to make the best of it. Planning to secure my room soon/asap. Otherwise, I will bring just a notebook for some notes. I understand this is a great event however I am skeptical that I will get anything huge from it that I haven't really come across online or from reading at this point. I know mostly what I need to do in my FI journey so am hoping to leave there at least meeting a friend or two to stay connected with!

I think my hopes is just to make some contacts of other similar minded folks. Im a family high earner for my area, but spend significantly below my means. I honestly just feel kind of on an island where I make more than the average folks that I hang out with in my personal life, but spend way less than my colleagues.

ha! similar except I am a lower/mid to avg income earner! my friends may or may not more, but their expenses and patterns of doing things…I, too am just looking to connect with other like-minded individuals on this path! It absolutely gets lonely and conversations are just…(speechless)…

I do a song-and-dance routine there every year. (Until my wife tells me to sit down.) 😀

You don't need to do anything now other than figure out where you are going to stay. Most attendees will be at the Fairfield (younger trending crowd) or the Celare (older trending crowd), and hanging out in bars and lobbies there into the night.

If this is your first time, I suggest you plan to get there on Thursday and leave on Monday, as there is usually some bonus event on Thursday night and random stuff on Friday in addition to the scheduled things. Friday events are a good place to meet other people if you are on your own.

Look at a schedule from last year for an idea of the events – it will be similar.

Join the Econome Conference group on Facebook if you are there.

Hi! If you can stay at one of the 3 hotels Diania gets block rates for, you’ll have the highest likelihood to meet others attending. There is usually a pre-party on Thursday night and an urban hike Friday morning. Try to come so you can make that. They do a speed friendshipping event that will ensure you know a bit more about 21 people at the end of it. Last year, a group took it upon themselves to organize a newbies lunch one of the days. If they do it again, try to join that as well. Otherwise, just try to join conversations and introduce yourself (even mention it’s your first event) and ask to join others for lunch /dinners as people tend to scatter to different places. Everyone is so welcoming and will ensure you are embraced with open arms. I’ll be there so definitely feel free to say hi if we see each other.
